Local and area officials breathed a sigh of relief when documents
were signed late Tuesday, transferring ownership of the plywood and
lumber mill at Chapman from International Paper (IP) to a newly
formed company, Chapman Forest Products Inc., headed by Philip
Smith, formerly of Greenville.
